Denmark to close the Consulate General in St. Petersburg  18.09.2017 07:00

As reported the press service of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Ministry announced the plan to close the Consulate General in St. Petersburg and the trade mission in the US Atlanta by the end of 2017.

Starting from January 2018, the Embassy of Denmark in Moscow will deal with trade and economic interests and consular issues of the kingdom in Russia. This will happen in the framework of strengthening the Danish presence in the Russian capital, RBK reports.

Changes in the structure of Danish missions abroad are associated with "global development trends and business community demands".

Closing of the Consulate General in St. Petersburg will not affect the commercial relations with Russia and does not mean a refusal to strengthen the Danish-Russian business relations, the report says. The Consulate General of Denmark in St. Petersburg was of the nature of the country's trade mission. The Danish Cultural Institute will represent the kingdom in St. Petersburg.

At the time of writing, the official website of the Consulate General of Denmark in Russia is not available.

Starting from January 1, 2018, the commercial interests of Denmark which were previously processed by the trade mission in Atlanta will be handled by other Danish diplomatic missions in the United States.
