Direct flights can be launched between 2018 World Cup host cities 26.01.2018 14:08
Now most flights from one city to another include a stop in Moscow or Saint Petersburg.
Direct flights between the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ host cities can be launched on the eve of the championship. This was told by the LOC CEO Aleksey Sorokin.
At the moment, most flights from one city to another include a stop in Moscow or Saint Petersburg.
"There is a specific problem of direct flights between the host cities, but we have a discussion with airlines to encourage direct flights, but this mechanism must be market-oriented. If only 30 fans come to support their team, it makes no sense to make a direct flight. When the analysis is carried out jointly with the Ministry of Transport, then we will understand what additional direct flights are needed," said Sorokin.
The World Cup matches will be held in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, Ekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Samara and Saransk from June 14 to July 15.
