Fans from Germany, Brazil and Argentina requested most tickets for the 2018 World Cup  16.10.2017 13:30

As reported the press service of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), about 3.5 million requests for tickets for the 2018 FIFA World Cup have already been received.

"The first stage of sales is finished, 3 496 204 tickets were requested," reports the FIFA press service.

Most requests are made by Russian fans, while international demand is around 30%. The top ten are fans from Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, the USA, Colombia, Egypt, China and Poland. It should be noted that the Chinese team will not participate in the event.

In addition, about 150 thousand tickets were requested for the opening match and more than 300 thousand for the final.

Russian Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov considers the high demand for tickets to be a result of the successful holding of the FIFA Confederations Cup.

"First of all, this is the result of an excellent holding of the FIFA Confederations Cup. Everyone expects a wonderful game and a perfect organization from this championship. We are glad," said the minister.

The president of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov is sure that the 2018 FIFA World Cup matches will attract a capacity crowd.  "3.4 million applications reveal the enormous interest in the World Cup, I think that stands will be filled at almost all matches," reported A. Zhukov.

At the moment, nine countries-participants of the 2018 FIFA World Cup are still not determined. Besides the host country, Brazil, Iran, Japan, Mexico, Belgium, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Germany, England, Spain, Nigeria, Costa Rica, Poland, Egypt, Iceland, Serbia, France, Portugal, Panama, Uruguay, Colombia and Argentina will take part in the finals.

Ticket sales will resume on November 16th. The tickets will not be delivered until April / May 2018.
