Fedotov: Russia and Germany are waiting for visa facilitation  03.06.2019 12:20

Russia and Germany are interested in liberalization of the visa regime between the two countries and specific proposals are ready, the Chairman of the Human Rights Council under the President of Russia Mikhail Fedotov told RIA Novosti.

On Thursday, a round table "Visa liberalization between Russia and the EU: opportunities and prospects" is held in Moscow in the framework of the working group "civil society" of the forum in Saint Petersburg. The participants of the round table are representatives of Russia and Germany that voted for the liberalization of visa rules.

"It is already clear today that civil society in both Russia and Germany demands one thing: the liberalization of the visa regime... The main thing is that today's discussion has shown that firstly, everyone is interested in the liberalization of the visa regime, and secondly, it has shown that there are specific proposals on how to do it", - Fedotov said.

The head of the Human Rights Council expressed hope that in the future a working group will be set up at the level of state bodies to consider the issue of visa facilitation.

"This liberalization should affect young people first of all, it should concern elderly people, it should concern exchanges at the level of schools, universities, public organizations and so on. We will accumulate all our proposals in our joint document, which will be presented during the forum in Bonn in July", - said the human rights activist.
