France will issue visas to Russians within 48 hours  01.09.2017 14:35

Starting from November 1, 2017 the Consulate General of France in Moscow will issue visas within 48 hours. Previously, the procedure took from 10 to 30 working days.

According to the Consul General of France in Moscow Marc Sedille, such a procedure will be available for 10 countries including Russia. Visa processing time will be reduced due to additional measures introduced by the Prime Minister of France and aimed at "increasing the attractiveness of the country".

As noted the Consul General, 75% of visas for Russians are issued in Moscow, so new measures will be primarily applied to the capital.

“In regions, visa processing will take 48 hours plus the time required to deliver a passport to Moscow and send it back to the region. We cooperate closely with VFS to shorten the delivery time,” reported Marc Sedille, the Consul General of France in Moscow.

In addition, the mobile biometrics allowing to remotely pass fingerprints to obtain a visa will become available at the consulate, not only at visa centre. The service will cost 150 euros (10 000 rubles) for one passport and 270 euros (18 000 rubles) for two documents.

News on the reduction of Russian visa processing time by France appeared in April 2016. Greece reported about the issuance of visas within 24 hours, Norway reduced the issuing period to three days. The United States, on the contrary, suspended the issuance of nonimmigrant visas to Russians until September.
