The visa regime can be simplified for tourists from some countries in Moscow, the head of the Moscow Department of Sport and Tourism Nikolai Gulyaev told reporters on Tuesday.

"In the near future, a visa-free regime can be introduced for certain categories of tourists from some countries, for example for 72 hours like in St. Petersburg," he said.

N.Gulyaev added that this issue, nevertheless, is under the jurisdiction of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

According to the department, the number of tourists in Moscow could reach 22.9 million by the end of the year which is 10% more than a year earlier.
