According to the website of the Ministry for Development of the Russian Far East, foreign nationals will be able to visit Kamchatka and Sakhalin on e-visas from January 1, 2018.

"In this regard, all the necessary technical works have been carried out according to the plan, the corresponding infrastructure has been created," the message states.

It is noted that due to the simplified visa regime, it is possible to cross the Russian border through 11 checkpoints since this January.

In Kamchatka, it will be possible to cross the border on e-visa through the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky offshore crossing point and on Sakhalin the Korsakov offshore crossing point will operate under the simplified visa regime.

Two border checkpoints such as an offshore crossing point and Knevichi International Airport are already available in Vladivostok. From January, it will be possible to enter Primorye on e-visas through Pogranichny, Khasan and Makhalino railway checkpoints, Poltavka and Turiy Rig car checkpoints as well as Zarubino and Posyet offshore crossing points.

Electronic visas are available for citizens of 18 countries who can apply for a visa on a specialized website four days before the proposed entry. E-visa is issued free of charge without charging any fees.

Currently, the issue on possible introduction of e-visas is being considered for foreign citizens arriving through the airports to Chukotka, Sakhalin and Kamchatka as well as to the Amur Region, the Khabarovsk Krai and the Magadan Region.
