Kostroma region is aimed at one million tourists  05.02.2018 14:17

By 2020, Kostroma region expects to receive more than one million tourists - this forecast was voiced by the head of the region Sergey Sitnikov. According to him, there is a reason to expect it. So, according to official data of travel agencies, for five years the number of tourists has increased by 36.6% or more than 250 thousand people.

"There is a positive sign, in 2017 there are tourists by 5 percent more than in 2016. In 2018, we expected to increase by 3-4 percent. By 2020, we plan to exceed the millionth border," the local media quoted the head of the region.

At the same time, according to Sergey Sitnikov, the influx of tourists is largely due to the active development of event tourism and the opening of new tourist routes - including those that link Kostroma with the Yaroslavl region. The number of real tourists that stay in hotels is growing - if in 2016 every seventh stayed in hotels, in the last season - every third tourist.

Among the directions of the efforts to develop tourism, the governor called the construction of new hotels, the development of the tourist attractiveness of the cities of Galich and Makaryev.
