More than a thousand foreigners visited Primorye on e-visa  02.10.2017 08:10

According to the Primorsky Krai administration, more than 1 thousand foreigners have used electronic visas to visit Primorye since the introduction of the simplified visa regime. “According to the information provided by the Border Agency of the Russian Federal Security Service for the Primorsky Krai, about 1003 people have already used the mechanism for the whole effectivity period of the new system. Most of travelers came from Japan - Primorye has received 528 citizens from this country at the moment. 449 people arrived to the region from China,” reports the statement.

Among the foreign visitors can be mentioned 12 residents of India, nine Singaporean citizens, three Iranian citizens, one citizen of Algeria and Saudi Arabia.

However, the new regime was used by less than a half of foreigners holding the issued e-visa. According to the border management, 2554 electronic visas have been issued at the moment.

In March, the Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the introduction of a simplified visa regime on the territory of the Free Port of Vladivostok. The electronic visa will be valid for up to 30 days from the moment of its issuance and will allow up to 8-day stay in Russia. The simplified visa regime available for citizens of 18 countries has been introduced in the Far East from August 1, 2017. Starting from August 8, a specialized website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs aimed to issue electronic visas has been launched.
