Passenger ferries will go from Polish Gdansk to Kaliningrad region during the 2018 FIFA World Cup  14.05.2018 14:58

According to Gazeta Wyborcza, the Polish shipping company Gdansk Shipping is to organize ferry connection with the Kaliningrad region to transport the 2018 FIFA World Cup fans to Kaliningrad.

A large number of fans from Poland and other EU countries will stay in Gdansk during the World Cup. The shipping company offers them a sea route to Kaliningrad on the days of matches. Literally in a couple of hours they will get from Gdansk to Baltiysk by ferry-catamaran and then to Kaliningrad by charter bus or train.

As reported, fans, guests and participants of the 2018 FIFA World Cup will arrive in Kaliningrad through all 13 border checkpoints including eight automobile, three railway as well as one sea and air border-crossing points. It is expected that the load on checkpoints will increase almost 4 times during the period of the matches.

The main stream of fans is expected in the Polish direction.

Kaliningrad will host four matches: on June 16, Nigeria will play with Croatia, on the 22nd Serbia will play with Switzerland, on the 25th Spain will play with Morocco and on the 28th The United Kingdom will play with Belgium.

Stadium in Kaliningrad is designed for 35 thousand fans.
