Possible simplification of the visa regime with Indonesia  04.03.2019 14:12

The Russian government approved a draft agreement with Indonesia on the simplification of the visa regime for mutual trips. According to the ATOR (Association of Tour Operators of Russia), Russian tourists will be able to get a multiple-entry tourist visa for up to six months.

Currently citizens of the Russian Federation can enter Indonesia without a visa for up to 30 days for tourist purposes. The agreement provides for the possibility of issuing multiple-entry tourist visas valid for up to six months to citizens of both countries.

The representatives of Russian tour operators believe that the tourist industry will not gain anything from the upcoming liberalization: 30 days of a current visa-free period are enough for organized tourists visiting the Indonesian archipelago.

“No global result can be expected from a possible simplification of the visa regime for organized tourism in Bali since the current way of border crossing has been worked out for a long time and does not cause problems,” the head of sub-mass destinations of one of the major tour operators Philip Obruchev-Mironov reports.

Nevertheless, the expert believes that the overall positive background associated with the simplification of the visa regime will benefit the Indonesian direction.
