Russia and China will discuss a new agreement on visa-free exchange in late April  17.04.2017 10:00

According to the Head of the Department of Bilateral Cooperation of Russiatourism Vladimir Fomin, a new agreement on the visa-free travel exchange between Russia and China will be discussed in Beijing on April 28.

“Negotiations with the Chinese side aimed to discuss the consolidated text of the draft agreement will be held in Beijing on April 28. We hope that we will come to an agreement with our colleagues and will submit it for execution at the regular meeting of the governments of the two countries which will be held in October 2017,” Vladimir Fomin said.

Vladimir Fomin noted that the current agreement on visa-free group exchange between Russia and China was signed 17 years ago.  It no longer corresponds to the existing volume of transportations between Russia and China and does not consider the modern standards of document flow and a number of other points. The agreement was repeatedly amended but is required to be completely revised now.

“The new project provides, in particular, a reduction of the tourist group from five to three people, an increased period of stay in the host country from 15 to 21 days, a withdrawal from circulation of tourist group acceptance confirmations in print format,” Vladimir Fomin said.

In addition, the agreement defines the procedures in emergency and force majeure situations and simplifies the procedure for exchanging of visa-free group lists which were previously sent through diplomatic channels but will now be entered into the information system available for both countries.
