Russian tourists will be able to visit Myanmar without visas  17.06.2019 14:05

From October 1, 2019, Russian tourists will be able to visit Myanmar without visas - a mark in the passport will be put on arrival, Eleven Media Group reported with reference to the official statement of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism of Myanmar.

Similar rules are introduced for tourists from Italy, Spain, Australia, Switzerland and Germany.

Simplified rules of entry will be valid for one year. Tourists will be able to visit tourist facilities freely, except in areas with limited access. The visa for 30 days can be issued at the international airports in Yangon, NayPyidaw and Mandalay for 50 dollars. The Ministry clarified that tourists have no possibility to extend this permit for entry.

Until September 2019, such rules are valid for tourists from Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Macau.

For the first four months of this year, the number of tourists arriving in Myanmar has increased for 1.5 million, which is 23% more than in the same period last year. In addition, according to the Ministry of Labor, Immigration and Population, the number of tourists from China has increased by 135%, from Korea - by 89%, from Japan - by 24%.

China has taken the first place in the list of countries, from where the most tourists come to Myanmar - more than 212 thousand in January-April this year. More than 97 thousand travelers came from Thailand, more than 45 thousand - from South Korea, from Japan - about 44 thousand, from the United States - more than 26.5 thousand tourists.

More often foreign tourists visit Yangon, Mandalay and Shan cities.
