The number of visas issued to foreigners will increase by 4% in 2017  17.07.2017 09:00

    As noted the head of the foreigners’ entry department of the consular department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yury Ivanov, the number of tourist visas issued to foreign citizens by Russian consulates may grow by 4% in 2017 as compared to the figures of the previous year.

   "The number of tourist visas issued by Russian consular institutions increased by 18% in 2016 compared to 2015 and exceeded 1.3 million. According to estimates, this year the increase will be about 4%," announced Y. Ivanov at a meeting of the Expert Council on Tourism in the Federation Council.

   He noted that most tourist visas to Russia are issued in Germany, China, Italy, France, the United States, Iran, the UK, Spain, Finland and Japan.

   Y. Ivanov recalled that the growth of inbound tourism was 7 % in 2016. According to the Border Service of the Russian Federal Security Service which registers the arriving foreigners conforming to their purpose of visit, about 3.3 million tourist trips were made to Russia last year.

   The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation noted that the procedure for issuing Russian visas at consulates abroad is one of the most liberal.  As noted, to get a visa to the Russian Federation, foreign nationals do not need to have bank and employers’ statements.
